Sightseeing

As previously mentioned, Rome is filled with stunning locations, architecture, and traces of Roman culture. If you are visiting Rome, you will see all of these just walking down the street. However, there are still a few places that you want to make sure to see before the end of your vacation.

The Colosseum is one of the oldest and most famous structures in the world. In ancient times, it was used for celebrations, sporting events, and (most famously) gladiator fights. Today, it draws tourists from all over the world due to its incredible size and design. Visitors can purchase tickets to tour this incredible structure; if you are visiting Rome, you cannot leave without at least seeing this amazing building.

The Pantheon is another must-see structure in Rome. This building used to be a temple dedicated to the Roman gods, and is one of the oldest and most famous Roman creations. Now, like the Colosseum, visitors can book tours of this incredible edifice.

The Trevi Fountain is another one of Rome’s most famous attractions. This beautiful fountain was built in the 1760s, and is a completely free attraction. Visitors can take a walk around the Piazza di Trevi, where the fountain is located, to get a feel for the culture and history of the area. Most visitors throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain for good luck or to make a wish. No matter what you decide to do in this area, it is an essential stop in any vacation to Rome.

At the Spanish Steps, visitors will experience a steep climb to the top of the stairs, where the Trinità dei Monti, a famous church, is located at the top. After your climb, you can see a stunning view of the Piazza di Spagna and the rest of Rome. Due to its location in the heart of the city, there are limitless things to do in this area; it would make the perfect day trip in your vacation.

If you are looking for a unique way to spend the day, check out the Baths of Caracalla. This building was a bathhouse in ancient Rome, and visitors today can purchase tickets to tour the structure. This is a great place to visit if you want to experience ancient Roman culture.

Another place to view ancient Roman structures is Palatine Hill; this area is one of the oldest places in the city, and has a spectacular view of the city. It is a great place to take a day trip and to get outside while experiencing ancient Roman culture.

Museums and Galleries

In a place filled with as much culture as Rome, it is no surprise that there are countless museums and galleries to visit. On your vacation, you might want to consider visiting the Galleria Borghese, the Capitoline Museums, and the Doria Pamphili Gallery.  

The Galleria Borghese is an art gallery that consists of paintings, sculptures, and antique items. There are works from a wide period of time, with an emphasis on Roman works. You can also view the famous Villa Borghese Gardens at the same location.

The Capitoline Museums are a single collection of artwork spread across a series of buildings. These museums contain artwork and archeological items, and are a great place to take a day trip. While you are there, also make sure to check out the rooftop restaurant for its amazing views of the city.

At the Doria Pamphilj Gallery, you will find an incredible collection of art including paintings, sculptures, and furniture. This gallery is considered to be one of Rome’s most famous attractions, and it is a great place to visit to have a great time while appreciating the culture of this beautiful city.

Entertainment

Rome is filled with opportunities for entertainment, from tours and shows to hikes and sightseeing.

At the Piazza Navona, a large square located in the heart of Rome, you will find endless things to see and do. The architecture in this square is amazing; it is one of the best examples of Italy’s beautiful structures with its mansions and fountains. You can also find street performers, bars, and restaurants in this area. It is a great place to spend your time, as you will always be able to find something to do in this area.

If you aren’t on a budget, you might pay a visit to the Teatro Argentina, one of Rome’s oldest opera houses and theaters. There are all kinds of amazing performances that take place in this theater, and visiting it would be an extraordinary experience.

You can also check out the Appian Way, ancient Rome’s first major road. Many people visit this road for the opportunity to walk along it and get outside while appreciating Rome’s natural beauty. This is an entertaining way to spend some time outside while taking in the culture and beauty of the area.
